After having hiked a small walking trail early in the morning to a popular look out spot, I finally saw the sought after view; the Anna Purna mountain range. In the heights of summer and hot temperatures, the mountains were still snow-tipped. And because it was coming to the end of monsoon season, the sky was cloudy and dramatic. These mountains tower over Pokhara which is situated in a valley below. They attract many tourists who either come to marvel at them, or trek them.

    Located in the middle of the Antarctic continent, 1200km away from the coast and at an elevation of 3265 meters, the Franco-Italian Concordia station is amongst the most remote places on Earth. In winter, the nearest humans are when the International Space Station passes overhead. The ASTEP+ telescope takes advantage of the excellent weather conditions and nearly continuous Austral winter night to discover and observe exoplanets transiting in front of their star. On 27 May 2023, noon local time, Domenico Mura was photographed by one of the telescope’s automatic control cameras serendipitously capturing a routine cleaning of the telescope, after a period of poor weather. The temperature was -50°C (-58°F).
